Meet Other Mountain Area Young Professionals

It is my privilege to introduce to our community a new group: the Mountain Area Young Professionals (MAYP).

We are a group of peers – business owners, entrepreneurs, photographers, managers, Realtors, writers, loan officers, bankers, and other professionals in our various industries.

We are young, we are motivated, and we have the energy to actively try new business ventures, develop new strategies in our field, or implement new techniques and technologies. And we like to meet and hang out with other people who are like us!

What we aim to do:

We are looking to network with one another to foster an environment of growth and success in our small community. We will encourage each other to be the leaders in our industries and inspire others to join us. We will make our mountain community a place to thrive, and not just be a place to leave after high school or come to visit. We truly love our area and want to work where we live and play. By promoting professionalism and entrepreneurialism, we will foster an environment of growth that will help our individual success as well as the success of our peers and community.

How we will go about this:

Socials: We will have quarterly mixers at a local bar or restaurant; these will be a staple for our group. These are the perfect opportunity for MAYPers new and old to catch up, to meet new members, network, and enjoy the cuisine of our mountain area. Depending on the demand or popularity of these mixers, we may have them more often. Have a suggestion for where the next mixer should be or want to join the Social Committee? Join us on Facebook and send us a message!

Community Involvement: Our main goal with community involvement is to offer activities to bring together our members and local organizations in need of support. Whether that activity is to attend a roadside clean-up, support a fundraiser, or match young professionals with volunteer opportunities, we believe that we can have fun and make a difference simultaneously. If you have a suggestion for a community involvement event or would like to join the Community Involvement Committee, join us on Facebook and send us a message!

Professional Development: Professional Development events are designed to bring the professional and networking sides of MAYP together and help our members become the leaders in the local business community. With that goal in mind, we look forward to holding occasional seminars or workshops led by fellow community professionals on a variety of topics (entrepreneurship, personal finance, communication for managers, effective time management, etc.). If you have a suggestion for a topic, speaker, or would like to join the Professional Development Committee, join us on Facebook and send us a message.

Outdoors: We look forward to offering a broad range of outdoor events from monthly excursions to annual events like ski trips, lake trips, camping, and overnight backpacking trips. The goal is to bring people together to have a good time and to enjoy the great outdoors that we live so close to! We will design the events to fit novices and the experienced outdoors-person alike, so that everyone will have a good time. If you have any questions or would like to join the Outdoors Committee, join us on Facebook and send us a message!

Our first event:

Please join us for our first social event, Monday, Sept. 29. We will hold this mixer at Southgate Brewery in the back room from 5 to 7 p.m. If you have business cards, bring them! This will be a time for you to meet and greet, have a drink, and get to know more about this great group!

Get more details on our Facebook page and RSVP if you can. RSVP is not a requirement to attend, but it will help us get an idea of how many appetizers to buy. Realty Concepts will be sponsoring this first event and providing appetizers, so make sure to come enjoy some of Southgate’s delicious food…
