COARSEGOLD — Madera County Sheriff’s Detectives are searching for a thief who stole a valuable, antique water pump from outside the Coarsegold Historical Museum.
MCSO investigators believe that the man pictured here was involved in the burglary, which they believe took place on Sunday (Jan. 26).
The suspect was captured on surveillance video walking around on the museum property during non-business hours. “At one point in the video, he could be observed approaching and touching the water pump that was stolen,” said a release issued by the Sheriff’s Office.
The long-handled red pump was ripped from a wood base in front of the adobe house on the museum property.
The pump was believed to be from the early 1900’s and had a replacement value of about $250, according to museum officials.
“MCSO detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man in the surveillance footage,” the release also stated. “The black cap he was wearing (shown here) was recovered in a nearby wooded area.”
