Mariposa Master Gardeners Spring Tour

MARIPOSA – The Mariposa Master Gardener’s annual spring tour this year includes two hillside pool-scapes (blending California native plants with traditional varieties), an inspiring lake-side organic garden (integrating animal husbandry), a mountain-view garden sprinkled with maple groves, and an enchanting creek side property with welcoming wildflowers, blooming along meandering trails, accentuated by enchanting yard art.

On Saturday, May 19, the U.C. Master Gardeners will host the thirteenth annual tour of five Mariposa County spring gardens from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m.

The five gardens create an inspiring variety of landscapes, plants, trees and growing techniques, expressing possibilities, and integrated expressions of how people surround their homes with natural beauty. We are grateful for the hosts sharing their hard work and gardening secrets with our Mariposa community. At each home you visit on the tour you will meet the garden’s hosts and U.C. Master Gardener docents, helping answer questions with maps and labeled plants species for each of the five gardens.

The 2018 Mariposa Spring Garden Tour is an excellent way enjoy a spring day in the Sierra foothills; meet other gardening enthusiasts; and take home inspirational ideas, tips and practices for your garden. These gardens illustrate cultivation on diverse terrains, exposures and elevations. The hosts are welcoming and the docents accommodating.

Tickets are $12.00 for advanced sale at the Farm Advisor’s Office at, 5009 Fairgrounds Drive (next to the fairgrounds), The Mariposa Visitors Center, Chocolate Soup or from any Master Gardener. Tickets will also be available the day of the tour, for $15.00.   For further information call the Master Gardeners’ office at, 209-966-2417. We hope you can join us.
