Mariposa Board Of Supervisors Hires New Director of HR

MARIPOSA – The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce the unanimous selection of Ms. Kimberly Williams as the County’s next director of human resources.

The Board reports that Ms. Williams impressed them with her extensive experience, intelligence, warm interpersonal skills and specific interest in coming to Mariposa County. She will begin her duties on Sept. 4.

The director position became available with the retirement of the previous director, Steve Johnson, on Sept. 30, 2017. An initial recruitment did not yield a successful candidate, leading the Board to contract with Wendy Brown Consulting for assistance conducting a second nationwide search.

After interviewing four highly-qualified candidates in early August, the Board says they are thrilled to share the news that an agreement for employment has been reached with Williams.

She comes to the County after eight years at the United States Department of State, where she focused on human resource management, leadership development, communications and general operations in assignments around the world.

Her last assignment was as the special assistant to the acting assistant secretary, where she implemented a successful internal recruitment campaign, contributed to a strategic force reductions plan and created an employee survey that led to dozens of improvements to Bureau operations.

Williams has a master’s degree in history from East Carolina University and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Georgia State University. She is a certified national trainer for the Center for Teacher Effectiveness and a certified human resource manager through the U.S. Department of State. She has been a tenured professor with Hillsborough Community College, vice president of programming for the United Nations Association and director of the Ybor Museum Society.

In addition to her exceptional professional qualifications, she set herself apart in a nationwide search with her genuine interest in our community. She has vacationed with her family in Northern California and is excited to explore all our region has to offer.

Mariposa County is delighted to welcome Ms. Williams and her family to the County family. The Board of Supervisors looks forward to seeing the wonderful things she will do as she begins her tenure.
