Mariposa 4H Sisters Look Forward To The Fair

MARIPOSA — Two members of Mariposa County Bootjack 49ers 4H club are siblings Robyn and Nina Sharrar, who are new to the program and are very busy raising birds for the Mariposa County Fair, scheduled for Aug. 31 to Sept. 3, 2018 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.

From Robyn:

My name is Robyn Sharrar. I am new to 4-H this year and I am very eager to show and sell my birds at the Mariposa County Fair. I am raising Grimaud Hybrid Pekin Ducks. My sister and I got them at the Mariposa Feed and Supply Co. when they were one or two days old.

I am thankful because we had wanted to raise geese for fair but they were unavailable this year, and the people at Mariposa Feed told me I could raise ducks instead. I am also thankful to our Poultry Project leader, MarLee Beaudoin, for helping me and my sister Nina. Please come and see my birds in the poultry barn and auction at the Fair. — Robyn Farrar

From Nina:

Hi, my name is Nina Sharrar and I am raising meat ducks for Fair through 4-H. This is my first year in 4-H and I am really enjoying raising birds. I am also showing bantams. We got our meat ducks when they were only a few days old and they are growing fast. We are building a duck pen and a bantam pen. Our meat ducks are Grimaud Hybrid Pekin. I am learning a lot about showmanship and poultry.

I would like to thank our Bootjack 49ers Club Leaders Courtney and Monica and MarLee Beaudoin–our Poultry Project Leader, and Mariposa Feed and Supply, for their help. Please come see me and my birds in the Poultry Barn and the auction at the Mariposa County Fair! — Nina Sharrar
