Drowning Victim at Hensley Lake Identified

HENSLEY LAKE – The body of a man found submerged under eight feet of water at Hensley Lake Monday afternoon has been identified as 61-year old Tommy Katsuji Uyemaruko of Fresno, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Uyemaruko drowned in Hensley Lake on Monday, Oct. 8. The body was recovered by Madera County sheriff’s deputies around 6 p.m., in about eight feet of water near a boating dock.Sheriff John Anderson reported that the drowning had been phoned in to authorities at 2:51 p.m. Monday, by bystanders at the lake’s Hidden View boat ramp.

The callers advised deputies that they heard someone screaming but could not see anything, except a boat that was floating away from the dock.
