OAKHURST – A Coarsegold man, accused of swiping a $28 bottle of tequila yesterday, now sits behinds bars with bail set at $15,000.
Rainbow Borrego Reed Orozco, 25, was caught shoplifting by loss prevention officers in Oakhurst shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.
Von’s security reports that the suspect became combative when confronted about the theft, and a scuffle ensued. A 911 call to the Sheriff’s Office sent deputies to the supermarket, located off Highway 49 in Oakhurst, where Orozco was taken into custody without further incident.
Orozco was transported down the hill to Madera Country Department of Corrections where he was booked on suspicion of burglary.
