Man Arrested After Harassing Girl Scout

OAKHURST – A Mariposa man spent the weekend behind bars after he was arrested for harassing a 13-year-old Girl Scout outside a grocery store in Oakhurst.

Deputies were dispatched to a shopping center off Highway 49 on Friday, Mar. 14, with reports of an intoxicated subject harassing customers, including a young girl trying to sell Girl Scout Cookies.

According to reports, Lance Wesley Dondero, 36, who appeared drunk, approached the girl at around 5:30 p.m., asking her what she was doing. He then walked into the store and exited carrying “some type of alcoholic beverage.”

Lance Wesley DonderoRoughly 90 minutes later, Dondero returned and reportedly chased a woman into the grocery store. She alerted store personnel who in turn notified the Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, Dondero was back at the Girl Scout’s booth where he reportedly put his arm around the young girl and started spewing profanities. He was swiftly taken into custody.

As soon as Dondero was placed in the patrol car he started screaming and kicking the back window, says the Sheriff’s Office. During the drive down the mountain, he spat on the patrol car’s Plexiglas partition, threatened to kill the deputy, and relieved himself while still seated in the back of the vehicle.

Dondero was eventually booked into Madera County Department of Corrections for Drunk and Disorderly Conduct.
