Make Healthy Connections At Community Open House

MARIPOSA — It’s National Public Health Week and this Friday, Apr. 5, the public is cordially invited to a celebration of wellness at Mariposa County Public Health.

It’s clear, they say: people’s health, longevity, and well-being are connected to the communities where they live, learn, work, worship, and play.

Public Health works to expand opportunities for healthy living in many ways. For example, public health organizes flu shot clinics, offers training to ensure safe food handling, and supports plans to expand walking trails, affordable housing, and school-based health centers.

The people at the Public Health Division of the Mariposa County Health and Human Services Agency believe everyone deserves the opportunity for a long and healthy life. So many factors affect everyone’s health, experts note, including things like safe water, smoke-free homes, preventative health care, and being prepared for emergencies. Public Health looks at gaps and successes while exploring new pathways to improve community health.

National Public Health Week gives us an opportunity to highlight the services we provide to make Mariposa County a healthier place,” says Dr. Eric Sergienko, County Health Officer. “I hope you can join us!”

Come to the Open House from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday at the Mariposa County Courthouse Lawn. Meet the staff, get ideas for healthy living, ask questions, and learn more about the Mariposa County Public Health Division.

From 1 – 1:30 p.m., Take a Walk with the Doc: move at your own pace and take the opportunity to chat with Dr. Sergienko.

Follow Mariposa County Public Health on Facebook page during National Public Health Week to learn more about Public Health.
