AHWAHNEE — An Ahwanee man was arrested, and both he and his passenger sustained major injuries, after crashing into a tree on Road 600 early Sunday morning, according to CHP.
On Jan. 7, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Joseph Noriega, 26, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pick-up truck westbound on Road 600 west of State Route 49.
Mr. Noriega lost control of the pickup in a left-hand curve, and drove off the north edge of the roadway, where the truck hit a large oak tree.
Both Mr. Noriega and his wife Stacie Noriega sustained major injuries. Neither was wearing a seat belt at the time of this collision.
Alcohol was determined to have been a factor in the cause of this collision, and Mr. Noriega was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
