OAKHURST – A month and a half long investigation into drug trafficking and sales in the mountains came to a successful conclusion Thursday afternoon, May 29, with the arrest of two Oakhurst residents and the recovering of heroin, meth, marijuana, ammunition and a gun, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.
Rocky Rodriguez, 41, and his wife, Brenna Rodriguez, 30, are behind bars facing a multitude of felony drug charges.
Early this morning, agents with the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team (MADNET) launched a multi-team operation to make sure Rodriguez would be apprehended without incident.
The convicted felon has a history of violence and agents were aware that there was a possibility he could be armed.
Knowing that Rocky was scheduled to make an appearance on unrelated drug charges in Sierra Court at Bass Lake, a team of agents was sent to the courthouse to await his arrival there.
Meantime, a second team was already stationed at a residence located in the 48000 block of Rock Point Road in Oakhurst, where it was believed he and his wife were staying.
The suspects were seen leaving the Rock Point Road residence, and shortly thereafter, both were detained outside the Sierra Courthouse in Bass Lake, and transported back to the residence on Rock Point Road.
During the execution of their search warrant, agents found:
3 grams of heroin – $300
2 grams of crystal meth – $300
2 syringes and 3 glass smoking pipes
32 marijuana plants – $48,000
1 handgun
Shotgun shells
Both Rocky and his wife Brenna are facing possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics for sale, drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Because of Rocky’s criminal past, he faces additional charges of being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition and a firearm.
A total of 15 law enforcement personnel took part in the MADNET operation, including assistance from CHP drug sniffing K9 and sheriff’s deputies.
A tip to MADNET roughly six weeks ago started this investigation.
Despite today’s arrests, the investigation is ongoing.
