On Tuesday, Madera County leaders honored 31-year-old Christian Johnson with an official proclamation after he completed a 50k race on every continent in just seven days, a newly confirmed Guinness World Record.

Johnson, a Madera native, said the journey was as exhausting as it was unforgettable.

“Yeah. I mean, an incredible adventure,” he said. “I ran a 50K run on every continent in seven consecutive days.”

From Europe to Africa, Asia to Antarctica, and finishing back in the U.S., Johnson said the miles added up, but the meaning behind them made every step worthwhile.

“I got to run on every continent, and I love running. And I always tell people running will take you places. And it definitely did,” he said. “As far as the amount of miles I did, it didn’t feel as bad as I thought it would.”

Johnson wasn’t just chasing a world record, he was running for someone close to his heart.

He completed the challenge to raise awareness for Parkinson’s disease, partnering with the Michael J. Fox Foundation in honor of his grandfather.

“I was doing this in honor of my grandpa,” Johnson said. “I knew once I got to Miami, Florida, to run the final 50K, that he would be there at the finish line and that I would walk him across. I just kept thinking about that the entire week.”

Johnson’s world record is now moving through the final verification steps.

Documentation, data recordings, and witness statements have all been submitted for review by Guinness World Records.

“We just received everything recently, so I have to submit that to Guinness, plus all my data from my watches, and then they’ll verify it,” he said.

The honor by the Madera County Board of Supervisors left Johnson humbled and proud of what began as a personal goal and turned into a milestone for his hometown.

“This is all so surreal,” he told county leaders. “I never thought I’d be honored by Madera County just for doing something I love.”

But Johnson isn’t slowing down. His mission to raise awareness and support for Parkinson’s continues.

“I’ve got a big year planned for 2026,” he said. “I’m going to keep raising awareness for Parkinson’s. I have a financial goal for Michael J. Fox, and I think I’m going to do another Guinness world record, and it might involve California.”

Johnson says whether it’s another record, another continent, or another finish line with his grandfather, his goal remains the same: to run with purpose.
