Madera County Elections Division Announces Filing Period Extension

MADERA COUNTY — The Madera County Elections Division has announced that the filing period for the following offices has been extended to Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 5 p.m.

School District Offices – Governing Board Member

  • County Board of Education – Area 6
  • Chawanakee Unified School District – Area 3
  • Bass Lake Joint Union School District – Area 2
  • Raymond-Knowles Union Elementary School District – At Large (2 Seats)

Municipal – Councilmember

  • City of Madera, Councilmember – District 5

The following filing period applies to candidates seeking these offices:

Aug. 8, 2026 – Aug. 12, 2026*
Extended Nomination and Declaration of Candidacy Period

Extends only if the incumbent fails to file by the deadline. Does not apply to an office for which there is no incumbent.

Interested candidates may visit www.votemadera.com and click the “Schedule Candidate Filing Appointment” link on the home page, or contact the Elections Division directly.

Candidates must obtain and file the required documentation to run for office through the Madera County Clerk-Recorder, located at:

200 W. 4th Street
Madera, CA

The County Clerk-Recorder will issue and accept candidate filing documents during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, throughout the filing period.
