Madera County Covid Update

Madera County Madera County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) is reporting 272 positive test results from the weekend. On 7/17 there were 103 positive results (including 8 from skilled nursing facilities “SNF”), 86 positive test results on 7/18 (including 1 inmate from Central California Women’s Facility) and 83 positive test results on 7/19 (including 37 inmates from Central California Women’s Facility) bringing the total number of reported cases to 1,451. Following is the breakdown of the 1451 positive test results to date:

  • 791 active cases, (including 22 hospitalized)
  • 647 recovered (38 released from isolation)
  • 13 deceased ( 2 additional deceased: male, 85+ with underlying health conditions and male, 60s with underlying health conditions)

Madera County has a population of 157,327 (2019 US Census Bureau) with 14,773 total test results to date and 13,322 negative test results. According to the MCDPH dashboard there are 78 confirmed cases in Area D which covers the Madera County Mountain Communities.

In addition, the MCDPH has updated hospital reporting standards in an effort to maintain accuracy, the number of COVID-related hospitalizations (see above) will now reflect the number of Madera County residents hospitalized in Madera County. This includes Madera County residents at both Madera Community Hospital and Valley Children’s Hospital. It does not include Madera County residents hospitalized in Fresno or other counties as this information is not reliable.
