Madera County Arts Council Board Selects New Executive Director

MADERA – Madera County Arts Council Board is proud to announce their new Executive Director, Jim Kocher, who has been the Interim Executive Director since January 2020. Kocher was unanimously selected by the Madera County Arts Council Board, as it is apparent that he shares the same level of commitment to the values and vision of the Council.

Kocher, who has 30 plus years of professional experience, has knowledge of increasing organization’s sponsorships and donors, has enhanced attendance and community awareness, as well as maintained overall financial health through his time with Showbizjobs, Dignity Health, The Walt Disney Company, and the Playhouse Merced community theater.

Executive Director Kocher hopes to use this opportunity to continue and better art education in schools; the goal is to also showcase art organizations, local artists, as well as starting to process of creating an arts center that would be located in downtown Madera.

Founded in 1982, The Madera County Arts Council is a private, non-profit organization working to support and promote all arts in Madera County. The Arts Council provides Madera County residents and visitors access to art and culture through diverse programs and services, promotes art education by enriching school curricula and other community activities, stimulates and supports local arts groups and individual artists within the county, serves all generations and multi-cultural groups, develops public and private financial support for the arts plays a role in the economic development of the area through promotion of the arts, encourages the promotion of a wide variety of public art and initiate fundraising activities to sponsor art in public place
