“Look Good, Feel Better” Free For Cancer Patients

American Cancer Society Look Good Feel BetterOAKHURST – Look Good Feel Better is a free program sponsored by the American Cancer Society for cancer patients who want a little support handling side effects and keeping their spirits up as much as possible. Now, a Look Good Feel Better workshop is coming to town, and area resident and Parlour stylist Donna Dozier is leading the charge.

In 1989, the Look Good Feel Better program was launched with one core belief, say organizers: that helping cancer patients deal with the side effects of treatment on their physical appearance can have an impact that runs more than skin deep.

Already, more than 900,000 U.S. cancer patients have participated in the program. By the end of a session, participants have a renewed sense that they’re not fighting the battle to regain health alone.

Each free two-hour group session is conducted by a licensed beauty professional who teaches skincare, makeup, nail, hair, and styling techniques to help cancer patients manage the appearance-related side effects of treatment. Each patient receives a free cosmetic kit that they use in the workshop and then take home.

The next Look Good Feel Better workshop offered in Oakhurst will be held on Monday, Jun. 13 from 3 – 5 p.m. at Oakhurst Medical Group located at 40232 Junction Drive.

Look Good Feel Better is a free, non-medical, brand-neutral national public service program created to help individuals with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem, and thereby manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence. The program was founded and developed by the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, a charitable organization established by the leading national trade association representing the global cosmetic and personal care products industry.

To register for the Oakhurst workshop, please call the American Cancer Society 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-227-2345.
