Filing Opens For School Board Elections

MADERA COUNTY – For anyone interested in becoming a school board member in Chawanakee, Bass Lake or Yosemite districts, now is the time to pick up the necessary paperwork to get started.

A total of nine offices in those three districts are scheduled to appear on the ballot for the Statewide General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

According to information put out by the Madera County Clerk/Recorder/Registrar, the following offices will be open to election:

Chawanakee Unified School District, Areas 1, 2 and 3

Bass Lake School District, Areas 1, 2, 3, and 4

Yosemite Unified School District, Areas 1 and 5

The filing period began on Monday, July 14 and the Nomination and Declaration of Candidacy period for all candidates runs through Friday, August 8.

Interested candidates must obtain and file the required documentation to run for office from the County Clerk-Recorder, located at 200 W 4th Street in Madera. The County Clerk-Recorder will issue and file documents during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, during the filing period.

Pursuant to Elections Code Section 10515, an insufficient number of nominees will result in appointments by the supervising authority.
