Live Music, Good Food, Good People & Great Art

OAKHURST — “Wildfires in our area are largely under control, evacuations have been lifted, and the air is clear. We have had a bit of rain, evenings are cool, and signs of autumn are all around us,” says Sierra Art Trails’ Jon Bock. “I believe a celebrations is in order! Join us for an evening of live music, good food, good people, and great art.”

Thus, a new date has been set for the Sierra Art Trails Preview Exhibit Reception at Gallery Row in Oakhurst — Saturday, Sept. 23, from 4 to 9 p.m.

The Preview Exhibit at Stellar Gallery is beautiful, Jon says. It’s open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and closed on Tuesday.

“Please encourage people to visit the exhibit,” he says, “and to purchase the 2017 Art Trails catalog.”

The Sierra Art Trails Yosemite Foothills Open Studio Tour takes place in homes, studios, galleries, and businesses in more than a dozen communities in Eastern Madera and Mariposa Counties. The show is the largest and most anticipated arts event in the area, say organizers, featuring artists and artisans working in a wide range of media including painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, fiber arts, woodcarving, ceramics and glass.

The catalog is a collectible, full color publication that includes articles, special features, artist listings and detailed maps that guide visitors to the various Art Trails locations. This year’s 15th Anniversary catalog features cover art by printmaker Monique Wales.

Sierra Art Trails is only two weeks away — Friday through Sunday, Sept 29 through Oct 1.

“The artists are working putting final touches on their work and their displays, and preparing to meet the public.”
