Law Enforcement Investigates Death In Oakhurst Crash

OAKHURST — What was first reported as a traffic accident last night on Highway 41 has turned into an investigation into the death of one occupant of a pickup that crashed just north of Oakhurst.

Just before 11 p.m. last night, calls came in to 911 of a vehicle accident near River Falls Road on Highway 41.

When CHP and Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, they found one individual deceased and another injured in what appeared to be a minor traffic accident when a pickup crashed into the rock wall on the west side of the roadway.

The injured party was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries, and a third individual was taken into custody, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Highway 41 was closed down in both directions as detectives began their investigation into just how the persons and events are related.

It is not known at this time if the deceased person perished as a result of the accident, or suffered injuries due to foul play.

Madera County Sheriff’s detectives are on scene working their preliminary investigation into the death of the victim, and CHP is investigating the accident. The roadway is expected to be closed for several more hours.

No details are available at this time on any persons involved in the crash.

We will update as more information becomes available.
