Laura Irene Morgan passed away on July 21, 2017, at the age of 80. Laura was a longtime resident of the mountain area who made her home in North Fork.
Born in Macomb, Illinois, Laura moved to North Fork in 1961, where she worked as a postal clerk. After retiring, she enjoyed some of her free time doing sewing and crocheting.
Laura is preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Bernice Hughbanks, brother Donald Hughbanks, and her daughter Lenora Morgan.
She is survived by her husband Warren Morgan of North Fork; her brothers George Hughbanks of Soledad, Calif., and James Hughbanks of Madera; sister Margaret Halerson of South Dakota; her children Brenda Scroggs of Ahwahnee, and Rebecca Rohrmann of Box Elder, S. Dak.; Grandchildren Harmony Frederick, Buck Scroggs, Patrick Luz and Rory Costa of Coarsegold, Calif.; Angela Luz of Plumas Lake, Calif.; Doug Luz of Clovis, Calif.; Emma Luz of Merced, Calif.; Iris Wellcome of Mariposa, Calif.; Jessica Newton of Atwater, Calif.; Hansel Heiss, Rachel Stern, and Laura Morgan of Oakhurst, Calif.; and Lenora Pate of North Fork, Calif.; and 31 great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. at the North Fork Cemetery, followed by a reception at the North Fork Town Hall.
