Laura Grace Wilkinson

At the age of 65, Laura Grace Wilkinson passed away, Monday Dec. 3, with the love of her life kneeling by her side. Dale and Laura were married for 44 amazing years.

Laura was born in San Rafael, California. At the age of ten, she and her family moved to Sun Valley, California. There Laura was very active with 4-H and Job’s Daughters. In 1965, Laura graduated from Poly Technic High School in Sun Valley, CA.During a wedding, Laura spotted a handsome lad named Dale. Eight months later on September 14, 1968, Dale and Laura married and began their life together in North Hollywood. In 1971 they had their only son Brad; the center of their world. Together they moved several times before landing in Simi Valley. For approximately 20 years, Laura worked as the registrar at Moorpark High School. Her dedication and tireless efforts to her job, earned her the Faculty Member of the Year Award in 2004.

Later in life, Dale and Laura realized that work was for the birds; they retired and moved to the beautiful city of Coarsegold. There they made many friends and experienced the things they loved like fishing, sightseeing, gardening and their ‘G’ gauge outdoor railroad. Laura was a phenomenal knitter, crafter, seamstress, baker and one heck of a hostess. Amongst all this, she loved watching wildlife and enjoying all the smells of fresh mountain air. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and friend who touched so many hearts.

In recent years, Laura and Dale set off to see the world. Their new retired life took them cruising to numerous exotic ports of call. She swam underwater, like Jacques Cousteau with a hose and helmet on her head; played with the dolphins n the Pacific Ocean; held a koala bear in Australia and climbed the Sydney Harbor bridge in Australia. After moving to Coarsegold, Laura became very active in the mountain community. She was an active member of the Mountain Community Women’s club, the Green Thumbs and Tillie’s Tatters.

Laura was preceded by her father Harold, her mother Nancy, and her sister Mary. Laura is survived by her husband Dale, son Brad and his wife Kimber, her sister Teresa and her husband Rusty, Claudia and her husband Randy, her four nephews Jeremy, Darren, Steven, Jon and their loving families, her
