Laughs Are Back As Comedy Night Returns To Bass Lake

BASS LAKE — The Comedy Show at Bass Lake is back by popular demand, say organizers at The Pines Resort, for the first time in 2019.

On Friday, Feb. 15, guests are invited to unwind at the Bass Lake Event Center and catch a healthy dose of laughs with stand-up hosted by Torio van Grol and featuring three Matt O’Brien, Julia Hladkowicz and Tony Zavala. The show runs from 8 – 10 p.m., and doors open at 7 p.m. to the Lakeview Room at The Pines Resort at Bass Lake.

Returning as host of Bass Lake comedy night, Torio Van Grol performs regularly in San Francisco comedy showcases and he’s been listed as one of the Bay Area’s best stand-up comedians by SFist. Torio has performed at SF Sketchfest, 10,000 Laughs Festival, Santa Cruz Fringe Festival and more.

Matt O’Brien

Matt O’Brien has been featured on MTV, Variety, Comedy Network, CBC, Odd Squad on PBS, MuchMusic, and San Francisco Sketchfest. He wrote and performed his own hour long special on The Comedy Network in Canada and in 2017 he performed his third TV gala at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal.

Matt is the winner of Sirius XM Radio’s Top Comic, and was recently nominated for Best Break Out Artist at the Canadian Comedy Awards and Best Comedian by COCA (Canadian Organization of Campus Activities). His debut album, Live in a Basement in Front of 20 People, hit #1 on the iTunes Comedy charts. He also hosts and films his own YouTube late night talk show, Late Night Talk Show on a Subway, that recently featured Scott Thompson of Kids in the Hall.

Julia Hladkowicz is a comedian and actor who has won numerous awards in the world of comedy such as the Hogtown Comedy Festival Directors Award, 2008 Fresh Meat Showcase Nomination and the prestigious Brian Linehan Scholarship Award. She has appeared on The Comedy Network, Much Music’s Video on Trial, MTV, YTV, PBS and on SiriusXM. Tony Zavala is a San Francisco-based comedian.

Tickets to the show are available for $10 each and are sold online here. The show is produced for a mature audience, 18 and over. A full bar, along with a special food menu, will be available for purchase in addition to the show tix.
