Kiwanis 15th Annual Run For The Gold Car Show

OAKHURST – Get ready to rev your engines as members of the Sierra Oakhurst Kiwanis Club welcome one and all to the 15th annual Run for the Gold classic car show preview at the Oakhurst Community Center this Friday night, Sept. 8, followed by the main event car show on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Oakhurst Community Park.

The cost for registration of vehicles is $35. It’s free for the public to enter and check out the sweet rides. Click here to register.

The action starts on Friday afternoon from 2 – 5 p.m. with a free poker run, designed to introduce participants to some of the area’s local merchants who support our car show.  This year, beautiful Bass Lake has been added to the run.

Finish off Friday with the Kiwanis Tri-Tip Dinner with a kick-off party at 5:30 p.m. on Friday night, when pre-registration of cars is open and a “cruise-in,” is happening until 8 p.m. Anyone interested can enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner for $15 per person at the door. Take-out meals are also going to be available.

That includes the sounds of a DJ playing rock ‘n roll classics, a raffle, and a preview of some of the exceptional cars in the moto mix. You can pick up your maps at the Oakhurst Community Center at 2p.m., register and buy dinner tickets, if you have not gotten them yet.

There’s a back-up plan in place for the Community Center event on Friday, due to fire evacuations. If the Community Center is still occupied by evacuees, the dinner will be held outside in the shade.

Saturday, visitors enjoy a free full day of auto-admiration and family fun, plus food and vendors, music and more at Oakhurst Community Park. Registration is at 7 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be available, as well. Before, during and after that, it’s all about the cars, including crafts, raffles, and good times.

Awards will be given out for Best Roadster, People’s Choice and Best of Show, along with first place plaques for each class and special award for Best Mopar.
