Juveniles Killed In Yosemite Identified

YOSEMITE – The two juveniles killed in Yosemite when they were struck by a tree limb on Aug. 14, have been identified as Justin Lee, 14, of Irvine, Calif., and Dragon Kim, 14, of Tustin, Calif.

The accident occurred at approximately 5 a.m. when a limb fell from an oak tree in Upper Pines Campground in Yosemite Valley, striking a tent in which two minors were sleeping. The preliminary pathologist report for both juveniles states they died from crush injuries.

Park Rangers responded to the campground to provide medical assistance, but both minors were already deceased.

“From our family at the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office to the Kim and Lee families, please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your families during this difficult time.” Sheriff Doug Binnewies
