MARIPOSA — John C. Fremont Healthcare District is now offering ultrasound guided breast biopsies. This quality care advancement is another example of its commitment to bringing enhanced access to specialty services in the community.
“We are thrilled to continue to expand our Women’s Services to the Mariposa Community and the surrounding communities,” said David Williams, Imaging Manager. “Patients can now receive a ultrasound guided breast biopsy, mammography services in addition to primary care and a range of specialty care services in one location for patient convenience.”
The ultrasound system is top of the line with the capability of not only locating and characterizing breast masses but also providing exacting coordinates so as to facilitate accurate and exacting biopsy of the breast tissue under investigation.
Dr. Pardeep Athwal, John C. Fremont Healthcare District’s radiologist will perform the ultrasound guided breast biopsies, he has years of experience from working at various other facilities which he serves.
John C. Fremont Healthcare District provides the newest advances in breast imaging both with digital 3D mammography — also known as digital breast tomosynthesis — and ultrasound.
“Mammography is the most important imaging screening tool for early breast cancer detection,” said David Williams. “All breast imaging will be performed by certified mammography and ultrasound technologists using state-of-the-art 3D equipment and will be read by board-certified, dedicated breast imaging specialists at John C. Fremont Healthcare District.”
