CLOVIS — Civil rights activist, musician and longtime foothills resident Jimmy Collier will take the stage for two sessions at Clovis Community College on Tuesday, Feb. 16, with a reception to follow his second appearance.
Collier will present his music and experiences starting at 12:30 p.m. in Academic Center Building One, room 150. Later that day, at 6 p.m., Collier will give a presentation in the same building, different room: Open Computer Lab. A reception will follow the second appearance in the computer lab. There is no charge for either event. The singer, songwriter, and organizer has a wealth of experience from which to draw, having worked as staff entertainer for Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
A native of Arkansas who’s landed in the foothills, Collier has traveled and performed with the likes of Pete Seeger, and appeared in venues from Carnegie Hall in New York to the television show called Sesame Street.
Together with Catherine Lowrey, to whom Collier is married, Collier lived in Mariposa for 20 years and has spent the last near-decade in Oakhurst.
If you plan on attending, please RSVP to email@example.com or phone Patrick at (559) 325-5243.
