Friend of the Family is the latest in the author’s series of “mysteries with a metaphysical twist” featuring Detective Ryan Doherty and the elusive psychic empath, Catharine Lulling. The series has been very well received and captivated fans far and wide, and also here in the foothills.
“I love when people come up to me and want to discuss my characters as if they’re friends,” says Moss. “That means I’ve done my job right.”
In addition to her volunteer work teaching creative writing to kids through programs at the Oakhurst Branch Library, Moss offers adult fiction writing courses, and is a member of the Oakhurst Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mountain Area Merchants Association.
As an author, she’s proud to write characters that people can identify with — the kind that stick in your head. One Oakhurst woman even admonished Moss for a particular storyline, giving her suggestions on how to resolve it.
“That’s fantastic. Every writer wants to evoke emotions from their readers, and so I’m glad she was mad. It will make her read the next book.”
The series consists of four separate mysteries: Town Red, Way to Go, Taking the Rap, and the imminent Friend of the Family.
