JCF Healthcare District Launches New Self-Service Check-In Technology

John C. Fremont Healthcare District is introducing a new self-service check-in system later this month, offering patients additional ways to complete the registration process before appointments while continuing to provide traditional check-in services.

The new Healow check-in technology will allow patients to register using a secure text message link sent to their cell phone or by using a secure iPad kiosk available at the clinic. Through either option, patients can verify demographic information, update insurance details, sign electronic consent forms, and complete health questionnaires.

District officials said staff members will remain available to assist anyone who prefers help with the process, and patients may still choose the traditional check-in method.

According to the District, the new system is designed to reduce paperwork, improve the accuracy of patient information, and streamline the registration process so clinic staff can spend more time assisting patients with their healthcare needs.

“This is one of several quality improvement projects underway across John C. Fremont Healthcare District to make care more efficient, accessible, and patient-centered,” said Kati Baca, BSN, RN, District Quality RN and project lead. “The goal is not simply to introduce new technology, but to use technology thoughtfully to reduce unnecessary paperwork, shorten the registration process, improve accuracy, and create a better overall experience for both our patients and our staff.”

The self-service check-in project is supported through a Central California Alliance for Health quality improvement initiative focused on expanding access to care, streamlining services, and improving patient-centered healthcare throughout the community.

The District has also recently expanded front office staffing and implemented a new phone system staffed by experienced team members during clinic hours, Monday through Friday. Those staff members assist patients with scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, and routing medical or prescription-related questions to the appropriate care team.

“I am incredibly proud of Kati Baca and the entire team for their leadership, collaboration, and thoughtful work on this project,” said Stacey Kuzak, CEO of John C. Fremont Healthcare District. “This new check-in system reflects our continued commitment to improving patient experiences.”

District officials said they also continue to strengthen partnerships with Central California Alliance for Health and other regional healthcare providers to improve access to healthcare services and care coordination in rural communities.

New patients interested in establishing care may register online through the John C. Fremont Healthcare District website or call Fremont Family Physicians at (209) 966-0850.
