Our beloved Jacqueline “Jackie” Elise Flaherty went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 16, 2015 at the age of 19. Born on June 29, 1996, Jackie was a resident of Vacaville, California, at the time of her death.
A 2014 graduate of Yosemite High School, Jackie was serving active duty for the U.S. Army National Guard 49th Military Police Brigade in Fairfield, with the rank of PFC. Her commander said Jackie was loved and respected by so many, and loved to reach out and touch other people’s lives, and always volunteered for the hardest jobs.
Jackie recently went skydiving with one her closest friends, Laurel Benghauser, who always encouraged Jackie to believe that nothing is impossible, saying you can do this if you set your mind to it, and become all you ever dreamed of.
Jackie is survived by her parents, Dennis and Diane Flaherty of Oakhurst, sister Isabella “Bella” Flaherty, brother Christopher Flaherty, grandmothers Gloria Flaherty and Margot Snead, aunts Susan Faber of Bakersfield, Mylene Grossnickle of Los Angeles, and Kathy Brogan of Washington state, and cousins Josiah, Shoshannah, Natanyah and Ketsiyah Faber.
A memorial service for will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at The River Church, 4450 N. Brawley Avenue in Fresno. The memorial will be followed by a processional to her final resting place at St. Peter’s Cemetery, where the U.S. Army Honor Guard will provide full military honors.
