YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK — The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office on Monday confirmed the identification of a 21-year-old man who died in a July 31 accident at the base of Bridalveil Fall.
Mariposa County Assistant Coroner Andrea Stewart identified the man as Lucian Miu, a Romanian tourist visiting the park. Miu sustained major injuries after a fall last Wednesday, according to the assistant coroner.
“Mr. Miu was a citizen of Romania and was just visiting the states,” Stewart added, also confirming the 21-year-old died the same day the incident occurred.
Rangers say Miu was visiting the Bridalveil Fall area around 2:30 p.m. when the accident happened.
According to reports from the scene, the 21-year-old slipped and fell while climbing on wet rocks below the waterfall.
