Identity Of Victim Released In Fish Camp Fatality

FISH CAMP – The identity of a man killed in a suspected drunk driving accident near Fish Camp last Saturday has been released by the Mariposa County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office.

Andrew Schenck, 45, of Fish Camp, died as the result of injuries sustained when the car he was riding in hit a tree just north of Summit Road on Highway 41 in the early morning hours of Feb. 1.

Mr. Schenck was reportedly a resident of Estes Park, CO, but was teaching in the Fish Camp area at the time of his death.

At approximately 2:14 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, Michael Allee, 30, of Fish Camp, was driving a 1993 Toyota northbound on Highway 41 when he lost control of the vehicle due to his level of intoxication and ran off the road, colliding with a large tree before coming to rest, according to the CHP.

Mr. Allee was arrested at the scene on suspicion of felony DUI and manslaughter and booked at the Mariposa County Jail. He is being held on a $200,000 bond.

Mark Touchstone, 27, of Fish Camp, was also a passenger in the vehicle. He was not injured.

This collision remains under investigation.
