Hwy 41 Collision Sends Driver to Hospital

COARSEGOLD — A traffic accident on Highway 41 at Road 416 sent a man to the hospital and temporarily snarled travel along Highway 41 this morning.

The collision, which occurred around 9 a.m., involved two vehicles, a late-model blue pickup truck and a vintage red BMW.

According to initials reports, the vehicles collided as the BMW was proceeding southbound on Highway 41 and the blue pickup reportedly was turning on to Highway 41 from Road 416.

After the vehicles collided, the red BMW struck part of the hillside adjacent to the highway, which is where the vehicle incurred the most damage, according to witnesses.

The red vehicle, which wound up on the northbound shoulder of Highway 41, suffered significant front-end damage and the male driver was transported to CRMC in Fresno with “moderate injuries,” according to CHP.

The driver of the blue pickup, which came to rest in the southbound lane, reportedly was not injured.

Neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be involved in the Friday morning collision, according to authorities.
