Hwy. 41 Closure in Oakhurst From El Cid to Rd. 222: Police Activity

Update – 2:33 pm – CHP is currently opening Hwy. 41. The MCSO says barricaded subject was taken into custody without incident. MCSO would like to thank the Oakhurst community for there cooperation during this incident.

Update – 2:22 pm – The subject has been detained and is in custody. As soon as all the police equipment is cleared Hwy. 41 will be re-opened. It is advised to still avoid the area as police activity is still heavy.

Update – 1:03 pm – Suspect has barricaded himself in in a room at the Yosemite Mountain Trail Lodge. A SWAT team is on site and Hwy. 41 remains closed north and south of the Lodge. The shelter in place order remains in effect and will so until further notice.

Update – 12:19 pm – MCSO has ordered a shelter in place for locations along CA 41 within a limited radius of the 42100 block. Go indoors, shut and lock doors and windows. Prepare to self-sustain until further notice or until contacted by emergency personnel with additional direction. If you’re in need of assistance call (559) 675-7770, if it is an emergency call 911.

OAKHURST – Oct. 10, 2020 – Madera County Sheriff’s Office and CHP has closed down Hwy. 41 in both directions from El Cid to Rd. 222 due to police activity.

An attempted arrest near the Snowline Lodge of an apparent wanted felon is now in a stand off with Police Officers.

Please avoid the area and use alternate routes.
