Mountain Heritage Days Parade 2013 - Everyone loves a parade - Photo by Kellie FlanaganOAKHURST – The 19th Annual Mountain Heritage Days Parade steps off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, and now is the time to register your entry.

“Please join us in celebrating your business, service organization, sports teams, scout group or your family and pets in this fun and entertaining community event,” say organizers. “Market your business, show your community spirit, win a special award!”

The early registration deadline is Sunday, Sept. 6. Applications submitted before this date have a reduced entry fee rate of $15, and after that the registration fee is $20 through Sept. 14. Late entries from Sept. 14 through the day of the parade are $25 each.

Registration fees are used to provide trophies and awards to parade entrants. Entry forms are available at the Fresno Flats Gift Shop 49777 Road 427 (School Road), at Oakhurst Giftworks 49027 Road 426, and online at www.fresnoflatsmuseum.org.

Here are the 2015 Mountain Heritage Days Parade Application and Judging Announcement Sheets along with most everything you need to know to participate.

2015 Application page 2The Parade Staging Area is located next to Yosemite High School on School Road, across the street from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Please check-in at the Registration Booth between the hours of 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM.

The parade leaves the staging area located next to Yosemite Union High School at 10:00 AM sharp and proceeds down Road 427 (School Road), turning right onto Road 426 (Crane Valley Road) and ending at Golden Oak Drive. The registration desk will give you your assigned number for placement in the parade. Parade organizers will be assisting entries with their placement in the parade line. For everyone’s safety please stay within your assigned area.

Judging criteria is based on overall appearance, performance, presentation and relevance to historical theme or category chosen.

2015 MHD Entry FormYou must place your Assigned Number on the Right Side of your Entry, allowing the judges clear view of your number while passing by the judging stand located in front of the Sierra Star on Road 426 (Crane Valley Road). Judging will take place between the two white chalk lines drawn on the pavement in front of the judges’ stand on Road 426 (Crane Valley Road), approximately one mile from the start of the parade. For the enjoyment of our spectators, remember to perform throughout the parade route.

Two minutes is the allotted performance time in front of the judges’ stand. If you exceed your time limit you may lose points toward an award and delay the parade. Bands will be judged on marching performance.

Trophies and awards will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony at 2:00 PM at the Fresno Flats Historical Village and Park.

You may hand out candy but we ask that you do not throw candy. It encourages kids to run into the road.

Please no alcoholic beverages on parade route.
