HOW Dinner Benefits Joan Alderson

HOW Joan Alderson Helping One Woman July 2016AHWAHNEE — Organizers behind the monthly charitable dinner, Helping One Woman (HOW) have announced that the July dinner will benefit Joan Alderson. The event is set for the Hitching Post on Wedneday, July 20, at 6 p.m.

“Joan has spent the last few years giving of her time, energy, and finances to loved ones and is in need of replenishment,” explain her sponsors. “She recently lost her aunt, a mother-figure, and her son to cancer. As she cared for her son on hospice, she also had to enlist hospice for her husband’s decline in health. The death of her son almost debilitated her emotionally, while luckily her husband made a partial recovery and is with her today.”

Joan’s husband has limited mobility and requires much of her attention, HOW explains. “His medical bills have become a burden that Joan can no longer handle alone.”

Organizers say thanks in advance for passing the word by sharing the event and attending with your friends.

“Joan and her daughter and sponsor, Karoline, are newer to the area and could really use your help to make this dinner special.”

If you have new items, used items, handmade items, gift cards, gift baskets, or other donations for the prize drawing, please let the HOW team know.

Men, women, and children welcome. A $10 suggested donation at the door affords each participant a door prize ticket. 100% of funds raised go directly to Joan.

“Your night out really can make a difference,” say those behind the scenes at HOW.

The Hitching Post is located at 42592 CA-49 in Ahwahnee.

RSVP to (559) 658-5428. Monetary donations or gifts for the prize drawing may be dropped off at Tokens Gift & Thrift shop in Oakhurst.

Those participating in the HOW benefit dinner place $10 or more toward a contribution for Joan, and pay for their own dinners. Proceeds from the evening go directly to the month’s recipient — Joan for July — at the end of the evening.

How members believe that “one woman giving $10 can buy another woman’s lunch. Ten women giving $10 can buy another woman’s groceries. One hundred women giving $10 can change another woman’s life. This is how HOW works.”
