House Fire On John Muir Drive In Yosemite Lakes Park

COARSEGOLD – Firefighters were called out to a structure fire near the intersection of John Muir Drive and Horseshoe Drive this evening.

At about 8:20 p.m., a neighbor reported that smoke was visible from the attic area of a home where the resident had recently passed away.

The first unit at scene reported an active fire in an 1,800 sq. ft. single story home. Firefighters made entry and found the fire had extended into the attic. They were able to hook up to a water source and begin immediate suppression efforts.

The fire was contained to the structure and with no extension into the vegetation, dozers and ground crews en route to the fire were cancelled at 8:42 p.m.

At 8:51 p.m., the incident commander reported that the main part of the fire had been knocked down, but the house was in a hoarded condition and it would take a lot of time to do mop-up.
