Homicide Confession to Elderly Shooting Victim in Coarsegold

On Sunday, July 18, 202 at approximately 11:20 am, Madera County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported gun shot victim in the 35000 block of Wells Rd in Coarsegold. Deputies discovered an adult male victim at the location, who was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

Madera County Sheriff’s Detectives have identified a person of interest in yesterday’s homicide that occurred in the 35000 block of Wells Rd in Coarsegold. They have also determined this was not a random act of violence, but rather an isolated incident. The person of interest is currently in custody and being interviewed by MCSO Detectives regarding their possible involvement in this incident.

Around 8:45am on Monday July 19, 2021, MCSO took a person of interest in the previous day’s homicide in Coarsegold into custody for questioning. Trisha Lynn Richardson was interviewed by MCSO detectives regarding her involvement in the murder of 73 year old Michael Lee Miller.

Richardson admitted to periodically cohabitating and having a romantic relationship with the victim. She ultimately confessed to shooting Mr. Miller on July 18, 2021.

Trisha Lynn Richardson a 32-year-old from Coarsegold was booked in at the Madera County Jail for murder in the first degree.
