NORTH FORK – For the sixth year in a row, the folks at the Hillside Baptist church will be giving away shoes to the kids of North Fork.
Over the course of this annual Shoe Giveaway, more than 1,500 pairs of shoes have been donated or purchased, and perfectly fitted by Pastor Steve to the feet of countless children in the community.
This year, Hillside Baptist will be holding two fundraisers to fund the giveaway. On Saturday Aug. 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., they will host a dessert feast at the church, that is being called “Sweets for Feet.” Just $8 gains you entry to a dessert tasting, or you can donate a new pair of kids or teen shoes – new, boxed, closed-toe, suitable for winter wear.
Anyone who would like to donate a dessert to be served at the event please contact Sarah Crotinger at 877-7771 as soon as possible.
“I need as many desserts as I can get my hands on,” says Sarah. “Cakes, pies, cheesecakes, truffles, divinity, fancy cookies, delectable brownies and fudge! I thank you in advance for your continued support as we serve our community.“
The next event will be on Saturday, Sept. 13, when the Hillside Baptist community plans to “Fill A Truck With Shoes.” People can drop off new shoes for kids and teens at the North Fork Post Office or at the church, located at 55238 Road 200, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
