Highway 41 YARTS Season Winds Down Sept. 25

Mountain residents who want to visit Yosemite without driving into the park have a little less than two weeks left to use this year’s Highway 41 YARTS service.

The seasonal route operates daily through Friday, Sept. 25, connecting Fresno, Coarsegold, Oakhurst and Fish Camp with Yosemite Valley. For residents planning an outing—or hosting visitors before summer’s bus service ends—the approaching cutoff offers a reason to put a date on the calendar.

Taking the bus means letting someone else handle the mountain drive and arriving without a car to park in the Valley. It also means building the day around the return trip, especially for anyone planning a hike.

According to the current Highway 41 schedule, buses leave Oakhurst’s Fairfield Inn stop at 8:40 a.m. and 11:25 a.m., reaching Yosemite Village at 10:50 a.m. and 1:20 p.m., respectively.

Return departures from Yosemite Village are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., arriving at the Fairfield Inn stop at 6:10 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. The earlier outbound bus and 4 p.m. return provide roughly five hours in the Valley. Highway 41 schedule

The posted standard fare between Coarsegold/Oakhurst and Yosemite Valley is $28 round trip or $14 one way, before ticket fees. Reduced fares are available for eligible riders, including seniors 62 and older, veterans and passengers with disabilities.

Children 5 and younger ride free. One child ages 6–12 may also ride free with each paid adult fare; additional children ages 6–17 qualify for reduced fares.

Travelers should account for park admission separately. YARTS’ current fare information says applicable Yosemite entrance and nonresident fees are not included in bus fares. Riders should confirm their total cost through the reservation system before purchasing. Tickets and fares

Walk-on seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but advance reservations give riders a way to plan both directions of the trip. Stops marked “REQ” require an online reservation at least 12 hours ahead or a call to dispatch at least 24 hours ahead.

Travelers using hotel-area stops should confirm parking arrangements rather than assume a hotel lot is available for day parking.

The Sept. 25 cutoff applies to the Highway 41 seasonal route. YARTS also operates year-round service along Highway 140 through Merced and Mariposa. Rider information
