Highway 41 Reopens After Accident, Road 211 Also Cleared

O’NEALS – Highway 41 has reopened in both directions between Road 200 and Road 208 after being closed for over five hours due to an accident and hazmat situation involving a log truck.

The road was shut down just after 9 a.m. after the truck crashed off the west side of the road north of the Rocky Cut in what the driver described as an attempt to avoid hitting a line of stopped cars.

Traffic was diverted onto Road 211 near Minarets High School and to complicate matters, a tanker truck dropped it’s back right wheel into a drainage ditch and got stuck blocking the northbound lane of traffic north of Road 208, backing it up for miles in both directions.

One-lane traffic control was put in place to manage the mess on Road 211 which, as of this posting, has not yet been cleared up.

It will likely take a long time to clear the backups on both Highway 41 and Road 211, so motorists are advised to expect delays as traffic sorts itself out.

Just before 4 p.m., responders said they expect Road 211 to be closed until approximately 7:30 p.m. this evening.

**UPDATE 6:15 P.M. Road 211 is now open in both directions. Tanker truck has been cleared.**
