Highway 41 Closed Through Rocky Cut Area Due To Rockslide

MADERA COUNTY – Caltrans is on scene of a rockslide on Highway 41 at the area known locally as the Rocky Cut, about halfway between the 22 Mile House and Road 200.

The roadway is being closed in both directions as crews work to clear the rocks and debris.

A hard closure is being put in place northbound at Highway 145 and southbound at Road 200.

Caltrans at first estimated it would be at least 5:30 p.m. before the roadway will reopen, however after discovering that the rock that came down was holding up a large part of the hillside, they are now saying it will likely be closed overnight.

Use the detour below to avoid the area.
