Highway 140 Reopens Between Mariposa And Yosemite

MARIPOSA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) reopened State Route 140 through the Ferguson Fire burn scar at approximately 9 p.m. last night.

The road was preemptively closed due to an incoming storm at approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday and remained closed for three hours for public safety as heavy rains moved through.

This closure stretched for approximately 17 miles from Bear Creek near Midpines to Foresta Road in El Portal – approximately 4 miles west of the Yosemite National Park entrance.

For ongoing road information, please follow District 10 on Twitter (@CaltransDist10), download the Caltrans QuickMap app to your phone, call 1-800-427-ROAD (7623) and check http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi.

Caltrans would like to thank motorists and local residents for their patience and cooperation during this process.
