Highway 140 Closed Into Yosemite Due To Rock Slide

YOSEMITE — What is being described as a “significant rock slide” near Dog Rock on Highway 140 has forced the closure of the roadway for at least 24 hours.

The rockfall was reported around noon today and has closed the El Portal Road and Arch Rock Entrance.

The rockfall is inside the park boundary about two miles east of the park line in El Portal, say Park officials. There are no injuries or damage to traveling vehicles reported.

Park Rangers and geologists are on site assessing the rockfall. The road will remain closed for at least 24 hours. All other open park entrances remain open and operational (Tioga Road remains closed).

We will update when the roadway has been reopened.
