Help Oakhurst Kids Have Their Fun and Learning, too

Sponsorships and donations are needed for Christmas Tree Auction

OAKHURST — The Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst always needs a little more help to ensure that “great futures start here,” as their motto reads.

Now that the children are back in school, anywhere from 60 to 100 students a day are using the club for its safe, supervised after-school activities. To help keep up the good work done by the club and other local charities, the BGC Tree Auction Committee is in search of sponsors and donations to help make its 11th Annual Christmas Tree & Online Auction a big success again this year.

Appropriate donations run the gamut from sports memorabilia, event tickets and get-a-ways, to art, music, travel, entertainment items, gift certificates for products and services, collectibles, home and garden items, electronics, dining experiences, toys and ornaments. In other words, anything that anyone would like to contribute.

“The work we do is vital to our community,” said Rima Runtzel, president of the Boys & Girls Club’s board of directors. “Activities at the club promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by encouraging a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, empowerment and self-esteem. As a sponsor of the Christmas Tree & Online Auction event, you can help us to achieve this goal.”

Being a sponsor for this event is a rewarding experience in many ways, Runtzel said.

“Not only will you be aligning yourself with many worthy causes, you’ll be tapping into an active, engaged community,” she said.

This year’s online auction will run from Nov. 19 through Nov. 30. The live event will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2 at the Bass Lake Events Center. Doors will open at 3 p.m. for the silent auction, raffle, hors d’oeuvres and champagne. Bidding on live auction items will get under way at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at Sierra Telephone, Foster Parker & Macaulay, or through the event website.

Each sponsor will have their logo or business name featured, with a link to your website, on this site. Names and links will be added as sponsorships come in.

“That means your involvement will be visible and your products and services accessible to each and every one of our supporters, including friends and family they involve by forwarding emails” leading up to the Dec. 2 event, Runtzel said.

Sponsors also will be recognized on a prominent banner and in the event program. SierraTel and the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau have already signed on as auction sponsors.

If you need more information about donations or becoming a sponsor, email the auction committee at bgco@sti.net.

“We know times are tough. So if you are unable to donate an item, or if you do not offer a product or service conducive to donation, consider donating cash,” Runtzel said. “Just $20 can go a long way towards an item purchased on your behalf and you will receive recognition for your donation.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The club’s IRS tax identification number is 77-0518514.
