BASS LAKE — Reports and photos coming in from a mountain area resident traveling along the south shore of Bass Lake show a dangerous condition for anyone driving or riding a bike along Road 222.
A reader sent these photos just before 3 p.m. today, of a major hole that has opened up under the roadway in the lane nearest the lake (westbound), between Denver Church and The Forks.
The damaged roadway is in the same area where the Courtney Fire came over the ridge in the summer of 2014, burning right to the shore of Bass Lake. A flood watch has been in place for the foothills, particularly in places with burn scars.
CHP and County Roads have been notified, and everyone is advised to be aware of this dangerous condition when driving through the area.
