Health Through Movement, Stress Management And Real Food

Class, The Body Pastiche is approaching our one-year anniversary this summer and it has been a whirlwind year! I have been amazed and overwhelmed at the community’s support and enthusiasm for improving life through movement, stress management and eating real food. Health and wellness have been my passion for years and to be able bring my vision to fruition is one of the greatest blessings of my life.

While we offer a number of group fitness experiences at Class, this is a very small part of what we do — our main focus is promoting longevity and improving the length and quality of life. We are all living longer but we are also more active than ever and, as we age, those activities may leave behind old injuries that speak to us, and sometimes scream, to remind of a wild and crazy youth.

Virginia Eaton Apr 23 SNOL Julie and KimBesides the physical pain, we live in a hectic, disconnected world with social media and non-stop news that make it terribly difficult to find joy and balance in our life. Through workshops, lectures, and health coaching, I want to offer the tools that can reconnect us to the joy and gratitude that creates a more balanced life.

Reestablishing balance includes reconnecting to food, real food that nourishes and supports the body rather than undermines its ability to repair and heal the body. Anybody who has listened to me talk knows I own a soapbox from which I lift the curtain on corporate food manufacturers to show how they manipulate us into eating food that is directly responsible for the deterioration in our health. There are ways of eating that can support your health, improve autoimmune diseases and lengthen your life, but the ingredients found in fast food (even so called ‘healthy fast food) and highly processed food is addicting, so changing eating habits is tough!

This model of having fitness and health education under one roof is new; it is also critical to combatting the barrage of fast and convenient food marketing. Fitness isn’t necessarily about sweating, lifting weights or wearing spandex, it’s about is dancing and breathing and moving in ways that prompt your mind as well as your body to recollect the energy of your youth.

If the fitness classes or exercises that you’re doing don’t bring a smile to your face, then you should look for another form of exercise!

Virginia Eaton Apr 23 hallwayWe have some amazing lectures and workshops coming up including Diets and Other Myths, which will be an open discussion on the state of our food, diet and exercise beliefs. We’ll be discussing topics such as The Real Cost of Eating Healthy, Managing Menopause, Eating for Improving Sleep and so much more. If there are topics that you’d like to see covered in this blog or as a workshop at Class, feel free to let me know.

Don’t ever let your age be the reason you avoid doing something, if your mind is willing, find a way to get the body on board!
