OAKHURST — Moxie Salon will host a Cut-A-Thon event to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst (BGC) beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Business owner and stylist Stephenie Jewett along with stylists Carrie Diffey, Michelle Eads, Martin Arce, and Cheri Roderick wanted to have a grand opening with meaning. They chose Boys & Girls Club as an organization that they would like to help.
Each stylist will be participating by donating their time. Haircuts will be $15. The event hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Club.
“It’s a great opportunity for the kids to get haircut, or maybe a quick trim for you while supporting a good cause,” said BGC President Melanie Barker.
While the business is hosting this as a Grand Opening, each of the stylists has years of experience and are known throughout our mountain community. This event is their way of giving back to a valuable community resource. Moxie owner Stephenie Jewett said, “My hope is that the public becomes aware of the need to have a safe environment for our kids and with their generosity we can all make a difference.”
The Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst is a non-profit youth development organization dedicated to promoting the educational, vocational, health leadership and character of boys and girls in a safe, nurturing environment.
The Club provides more than a safe, fun and constructive alternative to being home alone – they offer a variety of award-winning developmental programs to help youth build skills, self-esteem and values during critical periods of growth.
“The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst is to inspire and assist all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.”
