Gift Of Life For Valentine's Day

SAN FRANCISCO – Love is in the air today, more so than ever.

Coarsegold resident and business owner Tina Wynne announced Friday morning, Feb. 14, that her husband, Eric Wynne, is out of surgery at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC), where doctors removed one of his kidneys in preparation for a transplant. Eric is shown resting comfortably in the photo Tina provided.

Receiving the transplant today was Sheila Moreno, owner with husband Bobby of Robert’s Frosty, also in Coarsegold.

The couples traveled to San Francisco earlier in the week, planning to have a day of fun and relaxation before the medical procedures began on Thursday.

Tina reports now that her husband Eric Wynne “got out of surgery at 9:45 a.m.” Tina is updating friends and family through social media, calling her husband a “surgery stud!”

“All went well,” Tina says of Eric’s surgery. “He was in recovery and then up in a room after that. He’s doing great. Sore but happy to be here.”

While the couples were able to enjoy themselves dining and sightseeing on Wednesday, the day after was another story featuring “a long day of pre-ops,” Tina said.

Friday morning, the shuttle picked up Eric, Tina, Sheila and Bobby at 5:20 a.m. and by 7 a.m. Eric was headed off to surgery while Sheila was being prepped. Eric was out by mid-morning and Sheila was heading into surgery not long after that.

Both Eric and Sheila will have some recovery time ahead of them, and as Tina says, “Then the road to healing begins. Thank you to all we know are praying for us. We truly feel the love here in the Bay. Humbling, loved and blessed.”

SNO will be posting updates from the family when they have news to report.
