AHWAHNEE – Friends of Anette and Rod Poplarchick will be washing cars at the Hitching Post in Ahwahnee this Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to raise money to help the family through the next few months.
Anette was injured in a car accident on Easter Sunday, Mar. 30, and has a lot of physical therapy ahead of her.
“Let’s give this family a little help in their time of need,” says Lisa Gray, family friend who is organizing the event along with Beth Broomfield. “Rod is the kind of guy who helps everyone, but is reluctant to accept help from others.”With Anette unable to work while she recovers from her injuries, and Rod only working part-time in order to be at home with his wife, Lisa and Beth decided to take action.
“With monthly bills, groceries and hospital bills, it’s making it very hard on this family,” says Lisa.
Car wash organizers, the Gray and Bloomfield families, are rounding up popcorn and drinks for patrons, and car wash tickets can be entered into various raffles. Some of the prizes include four tickets to Boomers Family Entertainment Center, and gift certificates from The Produce Place and Supernaws BBQ.
Suggested minimum donation will be $5, but everyone is certainly encouraged to donate as much as they feel they can.
Anyone wishing to buy a car wash ticket or make a donation can do so at The Produce Place in Oakhurst, or The Hitching Post in Ahwahnee. Donations for the raffle prizes can also be made at either location, or call Lisa Gray at 559-641-2978.
“Rod has helped so many of us out when we needed him,” says Lisa. “So please come out and support the family this weekend.”
