Full Buck Moon

Full Moon by Courtney Cara June 30 2015EARTH – The moon is full tonight, Wednesday, July 1, at 10:20 p.m. and this month’s moon is known as the Full Buck Moon, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

They say it’s called a Full Buck Moon because the noble buck begin to grow new antlers around this time.

This full Moon is also known as the Thunder Moon, says the Almanac, because thunderstorms are so frequent during this month, and we’ve seen that to be true today.

It’s a blue moon, too, with the second full moon this month falling on Friday, July 31. With wild winds, high temps and thunderstorms, howl you get through this one? Special thanks to Courtney Cara for the full moon photograph, taken on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
